A surprise proposal in Tenerife, planned with care

A proposal happens once, and you can’t ask for a second take. That is why the planning matters as much as the photography. As your proposal photographer in Tenerife, I help you choose the place, find the best light and arrange everything so you can concentrate on your partner, not on the camera or the crowd.

What I bring to your proposal is a calm presence, careful preparation and experience guiding couples in natural light, which you can see in my couples photoshoots.

How the plan works

1. You send me the basics. Your dates, where you are staying and what your partner loves – sea, forest, views or quiet streets.
2. I scout and suggest. Two or three spots that are pretty, reasonably quiet and easy to reach from where you stay.
3. We set the timing. Usually the hour before sunset, when the light is warm and soft. I tell you the exact time for your date.
4. I find my hiding place. I look like a tourist with a camera, at a distance that lets me see your faces without being noticed.
5. We agree on a signal. A small gesture, like touching your hat or checking your phone, tells me the moment is about to begin.
6. The “yes”. I photograph the question, the reaction and the hug that follows.
7. We continue. After the excitement, I join you for a relaxed couples session, so you finish with engaged portraits as well.

Your proposal checklist

• Choose the date and keep your partner’s schedule in mind (dinner, nap, tours).
• Decide what you want: a simple kneel on the sand, a walk that ends at a view, a cliff at sunset.
• Have the ring in an easy pocket, not at the bottom of a bag.
• Pick an outfit that you both feel good in; soft colours photograph beautifully against the ocean.
• Think of a believable reason to be at the spot at that time, for example “let’s watch the sunset”.
• Tell me if you want the moment captured from a distance or closer.
• Agree on a plan B day, if your stay allows it.

Plan B for weather and crowds

Tenerife has sunshine most of the year, but clouds and wind can appear, especially in the north, and the popular viewpoints fill up at sunset. So we always prepare an alternative: a second spot close to the first, or another slot on the same day or a day later if your stay allows. I will check the forecast and message you if we need to switch.

Discreet communication

I message only the person who is planning the proposal, never your partner. We keep details in one private chat, and I suggest you mute it or use a code name for me if you share a phone. On the day I keep my messages short: “I’m in position.”

After the “yes”

The proposal itself is often over in a minute, and then you are two happy, slightly dazed people standing on a beach. That is the ideal moment to continue with a calm session – laughter, tears, hugs, walking along the shore. Choose the package with time for both, and we will plan them as one story.
